Miss Wendy & Miss Katies room is working on learning about different countries. The week of 11/9/09 we did Japan. We had a mom from Japan come in a make sushi with the kids. We sang a song in Japenese and had a all children's celebration Day, which is celebrated in Japan. The fish flags and fish decorations are used in the celebrations.
School Bus Safety Day
SAD 37 came to the Head Start to explain the importance of school bus safety. The children were able to practice getting on and off the bus and learn how to exit the bus in the case of an emergency.
Spring Cleanup Day
Families spent the morning working on the playground and front yard to get it ready for spring.
Beach Party
The kids and their families came to the center to celebrate when warmer weather would be coming along. They enjoyed learning about tropical fruits and making fruit smoothies. They made "grass" skirts and leis. They decorated a beach bulletin board and played limbo while listening to "summer fun" music.
Lowe's Night
Lowe's Night was a male involvement event. The parent group asked Lowe's to come down and donate wood working kits for the kids and their "dad" to do. Each child got to build a time capsule and then they could choose to build a jewelery box or a gingerbread house. When they were done they got to take their projects home plus the hammer and aprons.
Winter Festival
The kids and their families came in to celebrate winter. They enjoyed doing some winter crafts involving snowmen and making homemade ice cream.
